Painting at Pensthorpe
Join me at my gallery and workshop at Pensthorpe Natural Park for a four-week painting and drawing course inspired by the wildlife, flowers and scenery around us.
Each course has a different theme and is designed to help you develop your drawing and acrylic painting skills, whatever your current level of experience.
During each session, I’ll lead you through guided drawing instruction and a step-by-step paint-along. You’ll also have time to develop your own work, explore the techniques in your own way and receive individual support from me as you paint.
These courses are suitable for complete beginners, improvers and more experienced artists.

I’ll guide you through the drawing process before we paint together step by step.
Explore the colour, shape and structure of flowers found in the Millenium Garden at Pensthorpe this summer during this four-week guided acrylic painting and drawing course.
We’ll look at how to simplify petals, leaves and natural forms before building them into expressive floral paintings.
Take inspiration from the water, reflections, landscapes and wildlife of Pensthorpe.
I’ll guide you through techniques for creating water, depth, movement and atmosphere, alongside drawing and painting some of the wildlife that can be seen around the reserve.
What to Expect
Across the four weeks, we’ll use the wildlife and natural surroundings of Pensthorpe as inspiration for our drawings and paintings. Workshops are held indoors, any outside activities are weather dependent.
The sessions combine guided instruction, a supported paint-along and time to develop your individual skills. I’ll be there throughout to demonstrate techniques, answer questions and offer one-to-one guidance.
You do not need any previous painting experience to join. More experienced artists are also very welcome and can use the sessions to develop their techniques and explore each subject in greater depth.
